MOJO UPDATE

Barb:

Well, today was a big day in our house. Mojo passed Puppy Kindergarten!!! He is doing great with his training (other than “come”...we are still working on that one!). I am thinking about trying some agility or fly ball to see if he likes it.

We just took a 4 day trip up to our cabin around the Grand Rapids area. Mojo just loved it! He ran around the woods, chasing rabbits and picking up on deer trails. The dog instructor thinks he’d be a great bird dog. The only problem was the deer ticks were terrible. I must have picked about 20 off of him. Thank goodness for Frontline. Attached is a picture of Mojo and Mike at the cabin.

We really love Mojo. He is so sweet and loving. He has brought such a sense of serenity around our house. No matter how bad our day has been, there is always Mojo to cuddle with us. Thank you so much for breeding such wonderful dogs. I can’t imagine my life with out him.

Take care,

Amy

VIDEO: SAMUEL WANTS TO BE A PUPPY

If you've followed this blog for a while, you probably know that we have 2 grandsons, Samuel age 18 months and Isaac, who is almost 3 months old. Samuel loves coming to the farm to play with the puppies and help Grandma! Sometime he likes to pretend he is a puppy, and his mom and dad taught him some puppy tricks!!!

A VISIT TO LINCOLN APARTMENTS

Our grandson Samuel came along to play with the puppies

Wednesday was our last outing! We went to Lincoln Apts., which is a wonderful facility in Litchfield that offers assisted living. It is also one of my favorite places to bring the puppies. As you can see by the photos, the young and old alike enjoyed the day!

PRO WORKS

Today we went to Pro Works, which is one of my favorite places to bring the puppies. ProWorks employs adults with special needs. Everyone is so happy to help hold puppies.

NEIGHBORHOOD PARTY

We went to our friends home yesterday for a neighborhood party. The puppies were the guest of honor!

As part of our socializing, we introduce the puppies to other dogs while they are still in the comfort of their littermates.

WEEKEND PUPPY ADVENTURES

These little girls are friends of ours, and held the puppies after they
went swimming, in the nice warm straw!

Sean, Christie and Samuel were camping near by, so we brought a few puppies to enjoy the campfire!

PUPPY SWIMMING

We took the puppies swimming with their mothers on Saturday. They were all natural swimmers!

These friends of ours let us bring the puppies to their home to experience a new place.

AMY'S TEACHERS

We took the puppies into Amy's class today. This is her teacher and Para. I have always appreciated the teachers my children have had, but when Amy started school, I realized even more what an important role a teacher plays in our children's lives. We have been so fortunate to have wonderful teachers for Amy. People who have a heart for children. Kindness, compassion, understanding and love are just a few of their attributes. When you have a child with special needs, your world is a little different. You are constantly striving to help your child reach her potential, and helping other people to see who she really is. Amy has total comprehension. She understands every thing you say to her. But her brain does not always let her respond correctly. She knows what to say, but can not always communicate it. Looking past this and seeing that she can read, key-board, ride bike and even wake board are gifts.
It's a new year for Amy at school. Fifth grade. When I was surrounded by
the children in Amy's class, I wanted to hug every one of them. They know Amy after all these years, and they love her and accept her for who she is. She is Amy to them, not a girl with Down Syndrome. They beg to come over and play with our puppies and swim in our pool, and ride the four wheeler with Amy! It was so fun to share the puppies with them, and listen to all the giggles and laughter. It is always hard for me to send Amy off to school the first few days, but in my heart I know it is where she belongs, out in the real world, where there are wonderful teachers and para's, and kids who love her.

TUCKER TESTIMONIAL

Dear Barb and family,
I just wanted to send you an update on Tucker, from Jasmine and Captains June litter. He is growing up fast, and he is a great dog. He loves everyone in the neighborhood-dogs, people everybody and he's the best companion anyone could want. I've enclosed a picture of him-he is going to be a BIG boy. He just finished a 6 week introduction obedience class, and we are going back for more. Thanks for giving him such a great start.

Elaine and Dave.
